
On November 17, Heroic Story, a Web3 game platform, announced that it had raised $6 million in a seed round led by Upfront Ventures, with participation from Multicoin Capital and Polygon Technology. The funds will be used to hire employees, advertise the online beta, and develop on-chain technology for a multiplayer online role-playing game (RPG) setting, according to the company. Heroic Story’s total funding now stands at $7.4 million.

Other backers included a16z Games Fund One founder Jonathan Lai, Team Liquid CEO Steve Arhancet, and Quantstamp CEO Richard Ma, as well as Wolfgang Hammer, the president of cinema at Miramax, and Ryan and Kaz Firpo, cousins and co-writers of Marvel’s Eternals.
According to Upfront Ventures managing partner Mark Suster, the company fell in love with the idea of Heroic Story since they regularly create online role-playing games for huge global audiences who enjoy the tabletop RPG subgenre.
