At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, Samsung announced that its upcoming TVs will support NFTs. Now, the company keeps its promises.
On March 30, the Nifty Gateway NFT platform announced that its platform was now integrated into selected Samsung TVs. Specifically, Nifty Gateway said the company’s 2022 QLED & Neo QLED TVs will be able to use Nifty’s services. The company’s app is available for Samsung’s The Frame and Micro LED TVs.
“Looking ahead to our mission, we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Samsung to develop an innovative NFT collecting experience. Their commitment to the user experience & focus on the highest quality displays aligns perfectly with our vision of making it possible for anyone to connect with their favorite creators, anywhere,” said Duncan Cock Foster, co-founder of Nifty Gateway.
According to Nifty Gateway, Samsung TVs will be able to display “verified digital art” from its platform and have custody technology & payment flexibility for NFTs. This means NFTs minted through the Nifty Gateway will be viewed on Samsung TVs, while the plat-forms “custody” option, which allows users to store their own NFT on Nifty, will also be accessible through the South Korean manufacturer’s TVs . This is done through the Omnibus Wallet service offered by Nifty Gateway.
Additionally, the company said customers can buy NFTs from their TVs using debit & credit cards, as well as cryptocurrencies. Which suggests that Samsung’s TVs will support fiat-based payments and not just limit users to NFTs alone.
Nifty Gateway’s NFT collection includes some high profile names like digital artists xCopy & Beeple. Customers will have access to more than 6,000 artworks from emerging and prominent artists including Beeple, Daniel Arsham, Pak & more,” the company said in its announcement.
While Nifty Gateway is among the best NFT platforms in the world today, the company lags behind OpenSea. According to Statista, the platform recorded $408.8 million in revenue between May & September 2021 alone.
However, Nifty Gateway is also said to be stricter on developers who can mint NFTs on its platforms, which could bring more exclusivity to NFT buyers using Samsung TVs.
