Ledger, the maker of the hardware wallets Ledger Nano S and Nano X, unveiled its new Ledger Stax wallet on December 6th. This new wallet was created in collaboration with Tony Fadel, who also co-created the iPod and iPhone.
The new Ledger wallet features a unique and innovative design reminiscent of high-end Samsung cell phones. Users can browse their NFT collections even when the wallet is off.
All of the upgrades to the next-generation wallet, according to Ledger, were made possible through their collaboration with Tony Fadell, whom they identified as the inventor and mastermind behind Ledger Stax.
Although the wallet is not currently available for purchase, interested users can make reservations on Ledger’s website. The Ledger Stax will be available for $279 around the end of March 2023.
Those who buy the wallet will be eligible for several prizes, including a “Magnet Shell” protective case and an NFT from the Art on Ledger Stax collection designed by a well-known crypto artist.
What Improvements Does Ledger Stax Offer?
It is an easy-to-carry device the size of a credit card that allows users to store over 500 cryptocurrencies or NFT collections. Users will soon be able to browse Web3 applications using Ledger Live, courtesy to Ledger developers.
One of the most noticeable enhancements over prior wallets is the curve of its E-Ink touchscreen, which, in addition to display NFT collections, allows new crypto users to quickly view all transactions.
Regarding the battery, the company assured customers that they could use the Stax for weeks or even months on a single charge. This is possible because the screen is monochromatic (works in black & white) and doesn’t use much battery resources.
A “Cool, Cute and Fun” Device For All Crypto Enthusiasts
Ledger’s Chief Experience Officer, Ian Rogers, remarked that the company was able to create an inventive and entertaining device while upholding its signature cryptographic security thanks to Tony Fadell’s unwavering user experience-centric culture.
“Tony Fadell has both the circuit board and the billboard in mind when he builds a product […] With Ledger Stax, we’ve created a device that’s cool, beautiful, and fun. Together we have fused Ledger’s uncompromising culture of security and self-care with the equally uncompromising user experience-focused culture of Tony and his team. The result is the first truly secure consumer hardware device for the value revolution that blockchain technology is bringing.”
Ledger Stax creator and director of Build Collective Tony Fadell stated that after learning about Ledger wallets, he was inspired to develop a “next-generation device” that was simple to use for both expert & new user.
“Digging into Ledger’s proven security technology and testing the ‘best’ hardware wallets out there convinced me to build a next-gen device with Pascal, Ian and the amazing team at Ledger, [… ] We need a user friendly…no! A tool for “nice users” to bring digital asset security to the rest of us, not just geeks.”
Pascal Gauthier, president and CEO of Ledger, stated that the new wallet will be “safe and accessible,” after emphasising the company’s commitment to the security of its wallets, which have never been hacked despite selling over 5 million devices units.
