Dubbed as Internet of Tomorrow, Web 3.0 appears to be the next big thing that will change our lives by radically reshaping the Internet.
Web 3.0 is an upgrade to web, a meta-technology for enterprise software, a social movement for open data, and a next gen for AI.
Large companies are normally getting hacked, resulting in the exposure of millions of user data, and a McKinsey report from last year shows that almost all industries have got trust rating of less than 50%.
But the next gen of the web, Web 3.0, could solve some privacy concerns as it introduces the internet on blockchain technology. Storing all data on the blockchain makes that data decentralized, making company data-usage transparent, thus protecting it from breaches. However, returning ownership of their data to consumers could potentially disrupt the tech industry, as tech giants eventually lose access to the data that initially gave them a boost in an already competitive market.
The highly advanced technologies that will contribute to the evolution of the Internet beyond the blockchain are VR, AR, AI & machine learning (ML). But Tesla & SpaceX CEO Elon Musk & Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey are against the new technology.
In a recent interview with The Babylon Bee Musk admitted that he might just be “too old” to understand these new technologies, and asked, “I’m like one of those people who rejected the Internet in 95 as a fad or something that never going to amount to any-thing?”. Despite this, he pointed out that he was one of the people who understood the potential of the internet in 1995.
Musk focused his review of the Metaverse on the lack of compelling use cases & disappointing user experiences. “Sure, you can put a TV on your nose. I don’t know if that makes you” in the metaverse. I don’t see anyone strapping a frigging screen on their face all day & never wants to leave. It seems impossible. Right now, I’m not in a position to see a compelling Metaverse situation, ”Musk said and added that he thinks we’re far from“ disappearing ”in the Metaverse.
